  6. Seventeen-year-old Mia live in Oregon with her family. She’s good at playing cello, though she hasn’t gotten into Juilliard yet, her audition went very well.
Early this morning, because of the snow, her little brother, Teddy, and her school are closed, including the middle-school that their father works as a English teacher. Therefore, Mia’s Mom, who works for a travel agent in town, asks for leave, intending to spend all day with her family.

  7. They plan to visit Dad’s old friend, Henry and Willow. Stop at BookBarn, Mia’s favorite used-book store, on the way back home. Dad even promise Mia that he’ll have her back in plenty of time to get to Portland for concert of Shooting Star, her boyfriend Adam’s band.
On the way, they turn the radio to the classical station, hearing Beethoven’s Cello Sonata no. 3, which was the very piece Mia was supposed to be working on this afternoon. She concentrates on the notes, imagining herself playing and closing her eyes.

  8. Then the car is eviscerated. When she realizes that she is standing in a ditch on the side of the road, wearing exactly the same that she put on this morning, she thinks everything is fine. After she finds out that her parents were died, she starts to worry about Teddy. Mia runs back toward the ditch where she came from and see a hand sticking out. At first, she thinks that’s Teddy. But when she gets closer, she sees the metal glint of a silver bracelet with tiny cello and guitar charms. The bracelet that Adam gave to her for seventeenth birthday.

  9. The bracelet that she was wearing this morning, even wearing now. Mia finally realizes that’s her lying there. Although her breath doesn’t smoke in the cold wind; she doesn’t feel a thing when she pinch herself as hard as she can, she still can not accept the truth. The only thing that Mia can feel is her hearing sense. So she concentrates on that, finger the notes of Beethoven’s Cello Sonata no. 3 with her hands. Till the last bit of life in the car dies, and the music goes with it.
